Macaroni and Cheese
Ingredients:
- 1 pound elbow macaroni
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 4 cups whole milk
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 2 cups shredded monterey jack cheese
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F.
- Cook the macaroni according to the package instructions. Drain and set aside.
- In a large pot, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the flour and stir constantly for 1-2 minutes, until the mixture starts to turn golden brown.
- Slowly add the milk while whisking constantly. Continue whisking until the mixture starts to thicken and bubble.
- Reduce the heat to low, and add the shredded cheese, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Stir until the cheese is melted and the sauce is smooth.
- Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish. Add the cooked macaroni to the dish and pour the cheese sauce over it. Mix well.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes, until the top turns golden brown and the cheese is bubbly.
- Allow the dish to cool for a few minutes before serving.
