Let’s talk about mac and cheese. It’s the ultimate comfort food, right? Creamy, cheesy, carb-y goodness that just hits the spot. But have you ever tried a no-boil recipe? It’s a total game-changer, and I’m excited to share this one with you.
Ingredients
– 1 box Creamette® elbow macaroni
– 4 tablespoons butter
– 4 tablespoons flour
– 1 teaspoon garlic powder
– 1 teaspoon onion powder
– 1 teaspoon paprika
– 1 teaspoon salt
– 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
– 4 cups milk
– 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
– 1/2 cup shredded parmesan cheese
– 1/2 cup panko bread crumbs
– Optional toppings: chopped bacon, green onions, hot sauce
Instructions
1. Preheat your oven to 375 degrees F.
2. In a large saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the flour, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Cook for 2-3 minutes, stirring constantly, until the mixture is smooth and bubbly.
3. Slowly whisk in the milk, and continue cooking and stirring until the mixture comes to a boil. Reduce the heat and simmer for 1-2 minutes, until the sauce has thickened slightly.
4. Stir in the cheddar and parmesan cheeses until they are melted and the sauce is smooth.
5. Add the Creamette® elbow macaroni to the saucepan, and stir until the noodles are coated in the sauce.
6. Pour the mac and cheese mixture into a 9×13 inch baking dish, and sprinkle the panko bread crumbs evenly over the top.
7. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the cheese is bubbling.
8. Let cool for a few minutes before serving. Top with chopped bacon, green onions, or hot sauce if desired.
And that’s it! This no-boil mac and cheese is seriously delicious, and so easy to make. Creamette® noodles are the perfect choice for this recipe – they hold their shape and texture, even without boiling first. So go ahead and indulge in some comfort food – you deserve it.
