J Alexander's Mac And Cheese Recipe

Macaroni and cheese is one of those classic comfort foods that never goes out of style. It’s creamy, cheesy, and oh-so-delicious. The recipe I’m sharing with you today is inspired by J. Macaroni and Cheese

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound elbow macaroni
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 4 cups whole milk
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 2 cups shredded monterey jack cheese
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F.
  2. Cook the macaroni according to the package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  3. In a large pot, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the flour and stir constantly for 1-2 minutes, until the mixture starts to turn golden brown.
  4. Slowly add the milk while whisking constantly. Continue whisking until the mixture starts to thicken and bubble.
  5. Reduce the heat to low, and add the shredded cheese, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Stir until the cheese is melted and the sauce is smooth.
  6. Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish. Add the cooked macaroni to the dish and pour the cheese sauce over it. Mix well.
  7. Bake for 20-25 minutes, until the top turns golden brown and the cheese is bubbly.
  8. Allow the dish to cool for a few minutes before serving.
