Ingredients

  • 2 pounds of Pale Ale Malt
  • 1 pound of Crystal Malt

  • 1.5 ounces of Cascade Hops – added at 5 minutes into the boil
  • White Labs Belgian Ale Yeast

Instructions

  1. Mix the Pale Ale Malt, Crystal Malt, and Flaked Oats in a large bowl.
  2. Heat 3 gallons of water to 170 degrees Fahrenheit in a large pot.
  3. Add the mixed grains to the pot and stir well. Maintain the water temperature at 155 degrees Fahrenheit and steep the grains for an hour.
  4. Remove the grains and bring the wort to a boil.
  5. Add the Kent Goldings hops and let boil for 60 minutes.
  6. Add the Cascade hops and continue to boil for 5 minutes.
  7. Let the wort cool down to below 80 degrees Fahrenheit.
  8. Add the Belgian Ale Yeast and let the wort ferment for about 2 weeks.
  9. Bottle or keg the beer and let it carbonate for at least a week.
