Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup warm milk (110 degrees F)
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon yeast
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 3 cups bread flour
  • 1/3 cup salted butter, softened
  • For the filling:
  • 1/2 cup salted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups grated sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon dried parsley
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

1. In a bowl, mix together the warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 10 minutes until the yeast is activated and the mixture is frothy.

2. Add in the egg yolk and mix well.

3. In a separate bowl, mix together the bread flour and softened butter until it forms a crumbly mixture.

4. Pour in the yeast mixture and mix until it forms a dough.

5. Knead the dough on a floured surface for 8-10 minutes until it is smooth and elastic.

6. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with plastic wrap, and let it rest for 1 hour to rise.

7. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.

8. In a bowl, mix together the softened butter, grated cheddar cheese, garlic powder, dried parsley, and black pepper until it forms a smooth mixture.

9. Roll out the rested dough on a floured surface into a large rectangle that is about 1/4 inch thick.

10. Spread the cheese and butter mixture onto the dough, leaving about an inch of space around the edges.

11. Roll the dough tightly into a log and pinch the edges together to seal it.

12. Slice the log into 1-inch pieces and place them onto a greased baking sheet.

13. Bake the rolls for 20-25 minutes until they are golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
