Flower Child Mac And Cheese Recipe

Pasta and cheese – is there anything more comforting than this classic combination? I remember growing up, mac and cheese was my go-to meal whenever I wanted something warm, creamy, and satisfying. It has been years since I last had this dish, but just thinking about it makes me nostalgic. Today, I want to share with you a classic mac and cheese recipe that will transport you back to your childhood.

First, preheat your oven to 375°F. Then, prepare the following ingredients:

– 1 pound elbow macaroni
– 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
– 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
– 2 cups milk
– 1/2 cup heavy cream
– 2 cups grated sharp cheddar cheese
– 1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese
– Salt and pepper to taste
– 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
– 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
– 1/4 teaspoon paprika

Cook the elbow macaroni according to the package instructions until it’s al dente. Drain the pasta and set it aside.

Meanwhile, melt the butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Add the flour and stir until the mixture is smooth. Cook for 2 minutes, stirring constantly. Gradually pour in the milk and heavy cream, whisking constantly, until the mixture is smooth and thickened.

Add the grated cheddar cheese and parmesan cheese to the saucepan and stir until the cheese is melted and the sauce is smooth. Add salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika to the sauce and stir.

Add the cooked macaroni to the saucepan and toss until the pasta is coated with the cheese sauce.

Transfer the mac and cheese to a 9×13 inch baking dish.

Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and crispy.

Serve the mac and cheese hot, garnished with chopped parsley or grated parmesan cheese if desired.
