Ingredients

  • 1 sheet of puff pastry dough (thawed)
  • 4 oz of cream cheese (softened)
  • 2 tablespoons of granulated sugar
  • 1 egg (room temperature)
  • 1 tablespoon of water
  • 1/4 teaspoon of vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400 degrees.
  2. Roll out the puff pastry sheet onto a lightly floured surface, and cut it into four equal squares.
  3. In a medium bowl, mix together the cream cheese, sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  4. Place two tablespoons of the cream cheese mixture in the center of each pastry square.
  5. In a small bowl, whisk together the egg and water to make an egg wash.
  6. Use a pastry brush to brush the egg wash along the edges of the pastry squares.
  7. Bring opposite corners of the pastry square together and press the edges firmly to seal.
  8. Place the pastries onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  9. Brush the top of each pastry with egg wash.
  10. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until they are golden brown.
  11. Remove from oven and allow them to cool for a few minutes before serving.
  12. Dust with powdered sugar if you desire.
